Coming to clay with a background in painting and drawing, I delight in the ability to wrap a sketch around a three dimensional, functional object. Art can now become intimate as it is used in the daily ritual of eating and drinking.
My current line of dinnerware is inspired by time spent in the rain forests of Costa Rica. All that I found breathtaking about this lush, endangered habitat - the intense saturation of color, the dense moisture-laden air, the wild free flowing shapes - I have translated into the glaze and surface design of this ware. Each piece holds a small glimpse into the raw beauty that is the "lungs" of our planet and is meant to inspire joy in the moment as well as hope for the future.
