John Stephenson
In the broadest sense I am challenged as a ceramic sculptor to deal with empty space in much the same way as a composer of music deals with silence or the absence of sound. With clay as the vehicle I am engaged in turning form and space inside out. Often I work to free forms from the downward pull of gravity.
