Shirley Knudsvig
My current work is concerned with depth, color, movement, shadow, and the mystery that lies beneath the surface. My pieces are made from high-fire porcelain. To create texture, I add slips, and spray multiple layers of glaze.
My influences, have been the beautiful California coast where I was born and spent my first twenty-five years, my father, who was a potter and who encouraged and supported me, and the countless teachers and fellow artists who continue to inspire me by their dedication to their craft.
